
Advance could increase cancer detection by 40%
A major advance in breast screening at Noble's Hospital could increase cancer detection rates by up to 40%.
The latest x-ray imaging process, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis or DBT, takes multiple pictures of breast tissue, to identify smaller, subtle cancers.
A donation of £70,000 from the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust will fund the software for screening at the new breast unit.
Only a handful of UK hospitals currently provide DBT screening, so the upgrade is a big step forward for the Island.
