'Mum Tech' course designed to help Island mothers become more digitally savvy

Six-weeks of sessions covering social media, online safety and banking

Mothers on the Isle of Man are being offered help to get digitally savvy.

The six-week IT support programme - Mum Tech - has been launched by Love Tech to help women manage online safety, social media, IT basics and digital banking.

The next session will take place this evening (3 March) between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at Games Global’s Headquarters on Circular Road in Douglas.

Lisa Karran is from the charity says the training offered can be hugely beneficial:

Love Tech is an Island based charity dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people – specially girls – to explore opportunities in science, technology, engineering and maths.

The Mum Tech programme is free to attend; you can attend as many sessions as you like - they'll be delivered by committee member, and IT and Computing Lecturer at UCM, Clare Pettit.

She said: "We’re thrilled to have Games Global as the sponsor of this year’s Mum Tech programme.

"Their support enables us to continue providing free, accessible IT training for mothers on the Isle of Man, equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in today’s digital world.

"Together we’re making technology more inclusive and empowering women in our community."

Ty Smith, Group Head of ESG at Games Global, added: "At Games Global technology is inherent in everything we do.

"We believe in supporting initiatives that promote lifelong learning, inclusivity, and personal development.

"Partnering with Love Tech on the Mum Tech programme aligns perfectly with our values.

"We’re excited to welcome our community into our HQ by hosting these sessions and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on participants and their families."
