Motorists to face raft of road closures

Significant closures scheduled over next fortnight

There are several significant road closures around the Island coming into effect within the next fortnight.

Preparations for the Festival of Motorcycling are taking place on the Mountain Road on August 7 and 8.

The section of the course from the Ramsey Hairpin to the Creg ny Baa will be closed each day from 6.30pm to 10.30pm to both vehicles and pedestrians.

Richmond Hill in Braddan is due to be shut each day from Monday, August 6, to Friday, August 17, between 9.15am and 4.30pm.

The closure spans from the Home of Rest For Old Horses to the Mount Murray back road, in order for resurfacing works to be completed along that stretch.

The section from Fort North roundabout to the junction with Ballacutchel Road will also be closed from August 6 to August 10 between 9pm and midnight, whilst road drainage maintenance is carried out.

Gansey Road in Port St Mary will be closed in its entirety from 6am on Monday, August 6, to 6pm on Friday, August 24, in order to complete gas mains replacement works.

Finally, Glen Road in Laxey will be closed for two weeks for resurfacing from 6am on Wednesday, August 8.

In all instances, the Infrastructure Department will maintain access to properties where possible.

Access will also be available to emergency services, public works vehicles and others with the permission of the department.
