Challenges with bringing in breeding stock

The Manx National Farmers' Union has paid tribute to the work of government in eradicating diseases and preventing others coming to the Island.

While exports of livestock are continuing, imports are severely restricted by the presence of the condition blue tongue in the UK.

Animals can still be brought in from Northern Ireland, which is free from the disease, but the essential importation of breeding stock is challenging because of limited sailings.
