Mixed reports from businesses as TT gets underway

We speak to accommodation and food traders ahead of racing 

It's a busy time for the Island's hospitality and tourism sectors as they experience what is undoubtedly the busiest two weeks of the year. 

Peter Duke is the owner of Duke Travel, which runs the TT Village located on the former Victoria Road prison site, housing 400 guests across 200 cabins.

He says his business adds an extra 10 percent to the overall room capacity on Island during the motorsport festival, bringing around 2,600 visitors over.

Manx Radio's reporter Oliver Sykes spoke to him about the quality of accommodation on offer around the Island:

The Welbeck Hotel in Douglas is a family-run business which has been going for almost 50 years with four generations being involved.

It welcomes visitors new and old for TT and some of them have been returning to stay at the hotel for around 30 years, although it's noticed a down-turn in business for practice week.

The family behind The Carvery has come over once again for their 25th TT - and are one of a number of food vendors situated up at the Grandstand.

Outside of the racing fortnight, Lucy Campbell works in the TV industry, but comes over for the iconic event to support the family business:

Meanwhile, trader Alan Steele returns to The Grandstand with his trailer La Creperie for what will be his third year attending TT and MGP.
