Minister disappointed with renewable energy failure

Environment Minister Phil Gawne says he’s disappointed the Island is failing in its carbon footprint ambitions – but says action on renewable energy will still be taken.

A report by the Council of Ministers on producing 15 per cent of the Island power through renewable sources by 2015 will be laid before Tynwald this month.

It says wind, biomass, anaerobic digestion, tidal, wave, hydro, solar and micro-generation are all failing to help meet the target.
