Minimum wage to rise next month

The minimum wage will go up on the Island at the start of next month.

From October 1, it’ll be illegal to pay someone under 16 less than £4.67 an hour.

Seventeen-year-olds have to be paid at least £5.24 an hour, while those over 18 get a minimum hourly rate of £6.40.

Tynwald voted to increase the rates at its sitting in June.
