MHK pleased with school answers

Subject raised with education minister in HoK

A former teacher-turned-MHK says he's now satisfied over government's school closure policy during periods of extreme weather.

Jason Moorhouse raised concerns with the Education Minister after Storm Ophelia bore down on the Island last week.

Despite transport disruption, road closures and police warnings not to travel unless necessary, schools remained open - prompting some parents to take their children home early.

Graham Cregeen told the House of Keys yesterday (Tue) that while decisions to close schools are never taken lightly, pupil's safety is the 'number one priority'.
