Loaghtan farmer urges more producers to join initiative
A sheep farmer from Patrick is urging other producers to donate wool to Ukraine after receiving a thank you letter from recipients in the war-torn country.
Jenny Shepherd has been sending carded fleece from her Loaghtans since May last year through the 'Wool for Ukraine' initiative.
The products are given to people for them to knit or crochet and make something that can then be used to raise money to support refugees in Ukraine and Poland.
The organisation says working with wool is therapeutic and helps to 'balance the effects of stress and to combat post-traumatic stress disorder'.
'It silenced me and brought tears to my eyes.'
Jenny spoke to Manx Radio's Lewis Foster about how it felt to receive the letter:
The Isle of Man Post Office supported Jenny's efforts, allowing her to send the balls of wool to Ukraine without charge.
