It could be installed in the Ayres Nature Reserve

Manx Wildlife Trust is applying for planning approval to install communication masts to track small animals.

It wants to put them in the Ayres Nature Reserve in Bride and these will be able to monitor birds, bats and insects which have been tagged.

The charity wants to install one pole with four antennas, roughly the same size as a TV receiver, to the side of the discovery centre building.

It also says the first mast on the Calf of Man was hoped to be the start of a network across the Island to provide 'comprehensive coverage' of different species.

The application is currently pending consideration and can be found here.
