Prices pegged to inflation for next five years

Manx Utilities new pricing structure has been approved by Tynwald.

For the next five years electricity prices will rise and water and sewage rates will be pegged to inflation.

Re-balancing of the water and sewage rates will take place with the former going down and the latter going up.

The changes will come into effect on 1 April next year.

An amendment put forward by Middle MHK Bill Shimmins was approved.

It calls for the MUA to develop proposals on home generation feed-in tariffs, electric vehicles, electric heating for buildings and provide a progress report to Tynwald by March next year.
