Manx GP 'did not hesitate' when offered Covid vaccine

Glasgow-based doctor among first Manx nationals to receive jab

A Glasgow-based GP from the Isle of Man thought to be the first Manx national to receive the Pfizer Biontech coronavirus vaccine says she didn't hesitate when offered the jab.

Rebecca Vaughan was born and raised in Laxey before moving to Scotland at 18 to pursue her medical career.

Being a frontline healthworker she was one of the first in line to receive the vaccine as part of the UK government's roll out.

Having seen the effects of Covid-19, she was keen to get vaccinated:

Meanwhile, people who suffer an anaphylactic reaction to drugs or certain foods are being advised not to have the Pfizer vaccine.

Director of Public Health Dr Henrietta Ewart confirmed the position locally after two key workers in the UK had a bad reaction after having the injection last week.

The Isle of Man Government is hoping to take delivery of the first batch of the vaccine this week.

Jules Sum of Allergy Village says they have known about the issue on the Island for some time:
