Manx Gas pledges help for vulnerable customers

Additional support introduced after price hike

Manx Gas has pledged support for vulnerable consumers and is offering what it calls 'affordability payment plans', and comfort checks, for customers.

Treasury's financial support scheme begins in January but, in the interim, people concerned about paying their bills are invited to contact the company at the earliest opportunity.

The average customer will see a rise of around £20 a month on their gas bill.

Manx Gas bills a proportion of its customer base every day so the additional 2.1 pence per unit will be applied to accounts on a pro-rata basis starting from Wednesday 20 October.

One hundred per cent of billing at the new rate will be active on all customers' bills on 20 December.

Along with its Priority Customer Care service, which customers can sign up to, Manx Gas says it's financially supporting the Salvation Army's debt advisory service.
