Manx congratulations due as crowds celebrate Royal baby

Messages of goodwill and congratulations are due to be officially sent from the Island to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this morning (Tuesday) after the birth of their first son.

Both the Lieutenant Governor’s and Chief Minister’s office are expected to join other political leaders in the UK and from around the world by sending telegrams to Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Cambridge says he and his wife ‘could not be happier’ after the duchess gave birth to a baby boy, weighing 8lb 6oz, at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, West London.

The Royal couple remained in the hospital overnight.

The baby boy is now third in line to the British throne.

Crowds outside were overjoyed.

Attention will soon turn to a name for the future King.

James is emerging as the bookies' frontrunner.
