Man in drag committed over GBH charge

Accused of throwing a glass at a woman

A 27-year-old's been remanded in custody, accused of assaulting two women.

Josh Arthur Corlett appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes yesterday (Tue), facing four separate charges relating to an incident on 18 February.

The court heard Mr Corlett, of High View Road, Douglas, was enjoying a themed night out when things turned sour.

It's alleged that the defendant, who was wearing a yellow floral dress at the time, threw a glass at his victim in the Courthouse Bar in Douglas.

It shattered, leaving her and another female with cuts to the head, which required hospital treatment.

He then ran off, but was arrested by officers nearby - at which point he became abusive and violent, causing damage to a police van.

Mr Corlett's advocate stated he'd been suffering from problems with anxiety and anger management around the time of the incident.

He was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, and will appear next from the Isle of Man Prison via video link on 16 May.
