Affray charge denied by 34-year-old
A Douglas man’s denied launching an unprovoked and drunken attack which knocked a man out cold for five minutes.
Thirty-four-year-old Paul Allan Bollon of Hillside Avenue appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He denies one count of affray, said to have happened in Strand Street in Douglas just before 10.30pm on 10 May.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing the incident began when Mr Bollon verbally abused door staff at 1886 after being refused entry.
Miss Cubbon claimed Mr Bollon was involved in a drunken scuffle a short time later before punching a man in the head outside Shoezone, knocking him unconscious.
She told the court Mr Bollon left the scene as bystanders called an ambulance, and he was later arrested in a nearby pub.
Magistrates granted bail in the sum of £500 on condition Mr Bollon lives at his home address.
He’s due to appear in court next on 5 December when a pre-trial review is due to be held.
