Remanded in custody until next appearance
A man who sparked a high-speed police chase through Onchan has admitted a string of motoring offences.
Joseph Yeardsley of Bay View Terrace in Laxey appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse this week.
The 24-year-old admitted dangerous driving, not obeying a stop sign, failing to register a change in vehicle ownership, having no car tax and failing to stop for police.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain said Yeardsley came to the attention of police just after 11pm on Friday, 1 March.
Officers saw his Fiat van go past a stop sign on Stoney Lane in Onchan without slowing down, and when they followed him he overtook a car on a blind bend.
Deeming it unsafe to follow, they asked another unit along the Laxey coast road to stop him, but Yeardsley ignored them and kept driving.
He handed himself in at police headquarters some time later and admitted he'd been driving.
Yeardsley was remanded in custody until his next appearance at the Court of General Gaol Delivery on 18 March.
