Temporary venues could operate for up to 21 days in 2020

TT beer tents and pop-up bars could be allowed to operate for longer next year.

The Department of Home Affairs is seeking feedback from the public to grant occasional licences for the sale of alcohol for up to 21 days, instead of 14.

The Government wants to use next year's TT as a trial, allowing venues to operate from the Wednesday before practice week until the Tuesday following race week.

Views from those potentially impacted by the extended licences are being sought in a public consultation.

The consultation document says the proposals are part of a joint effort by the DHA and the Department for Enterprise to offer more ways for locals and visitors to enjoy TT. Any changes will require Tynwald approval.

Those wishing to submit their views have until 1 November. Full details of the proposals can be found on the Government's online consultation hub.
