Local Authority Elections: Authorities declare candidates running for a seat

Elections for contested seats are to be held on 24 April

Local authorities across the Isle of Man are declaring the candidates running for a seat in the Local Authority Elections.

The deadline to submit nomination papers passed earlier today (26 March), and the local government bodies are publishing the names of residents hoping to secure a seat.

Castletown

Nine residents have put themselves forward for one of seven seats, which includes a mixture of returning and new candidates.

Port St Mary

Port St Mary is set to hold an uncontested election, meaning all seven nominees are guaranteed a seat.

Arbory and Rushen

Six candidates have secured seats as Arbory and Rushen will hold an uncontested election.

Malew

The same five people have been re-elected to serve on the board.

Onchan

Seven people have been elected in an uncontested by-election.

The five seats have been filled, with two new faces and three returning members.

One ward of Douglas City Council will hold a contested election.

The central ward will see a by-election to fill a vacant seat.

Six people have stepped forward, leaving one vacant seat.

All three wards on the board of Garff Commissioners have been filled in an uncontested election.
