Lifeboats tow stricken vessel to safety

Boat was drifting towards land off the Island's east coast

A stricken boat had to be towed to Douglas after getting into distress off the Island's east coast.

Lifeboat crews from Douglas and Port St Mary launched yesterday lunchtime after receiving a report of the motor vessel drifting towards land with one person on board.

Both teams escorted the vessel to Douglas under tow through worsening sea conditions, ensuring it safely reached the marina.

Manannan also responded to the call, but stood down once the RNLI arrived.
