KWC pupils discuss the new normal, classes, and family

For the past twelve days, 39 international students have been living in isolation bubbles within the grounds of King William's College.

The private school was granted an exemption from government to bring the pupils in from off-Island, ahead of the start of the new academic year.

The students have been split into three bubbles, with teaching staff living in quarantine also, to take care of the group.

One of those taking care of the pupils is French and Spanish teacher Alison Schreiber:

Laura, 16, from France, says she's prepared not to see family for a while, but she's looking forward to starting classes:

Hannah, 18, from Germany, says she's glad to be back in a place without Covid-19 restrictions such as mandatory mask-wearing:

Maria, 17, from the Philippines, says coming back this time around was a difficult decision, knowing she may not see her family until Easter 2021:

The staff and students will remain in isolation until Sunday.
