Laxey villagers demand answers over 'avoidable' flooding

Manx Utilities chairman apologises at public meeting

The chairman of Manx Utilities has apologised to all villagers in Laxey affected by the major flooding, which took place earlier this month. 

Around 200 people gathered in the Pavilion at the Laxey Glen Gardens last night to question Dr Alex Allinson and other government ministers over an event many saw as 'completely avoidable'.

Some who spoke were furious and claimed little had been done to prevent to the flooding, with clear warning signs ignored by the departments involved. 

Others called for assistance over insurance issues, and wanted promises that action would be taken swiftly. 

The Chief Minister has announced an independent review will take place into the extreme weather event.
