Late-night dipper lands themselves in hot water

Lifeboat called after concerns on Douglas beach

Douglas lifeboat was called into action yesterday evening (Fri 31), after concerns were raised about a member of the public going for a late-night dip on Douglas beach.

The vessel was launched at 9.48pm, in search of someone who was reported as entering the sea opposite the Empress Hotel.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Marine Engineer was launched, under the command of volunteer coxswain Graeme Cushnie, to assist the Coastguards and Police who were already on the scene.

However after almost half an hour of searching, the swimmer was located safe and well.
