Several options being considered to stream Tynwald Day

Friday, 3 April was an historic day for Tynwald, with its inaugural 'virtual' sitting.

The Manx parliament conducted its business digitally for the first time, in accordance with government's social distancing rules.

Members met via audio link, with only the Tynwald President and Deputy President in situ at Legislative Buildings in Douglas - along with the clerks and other Tynwald staff.

In this instance it was an extraordinary sitting, held from 2:30pm at the request of Chief Minister Howard Quayle.

Monday, 6 July this year will be another historic day for the Manx parliament, when Tynwald Day will also look very different.

Plans are being finalised to conduct a skeletal ceremony - with no public involvement - also in accordance with government's social distancing guidelines.
