Charity aimed to encourage interest in international affairs
The Isle of Man's United Nations Association has officially been wound up.
The charity, which had been going for nearly four decades, aimed to encourage people on the Island to take an interest in international affairs and support the principles and work of the UN and its agencies.
One of its main events was the Mock Security Council for sixth formers - where they played the role of Security Council delegates.
Most recent UNA chair Chris Thomas says it achieved so much over the decades adding 'so many were disappointed that in the end a decision to close the association was necessary'.
Mr Thomas also says 'a very generous legacy from a founding member, Charles Colvington, allowed the establishment of the Charles Colvington Foundation and this continues to contribute to funding study for Island students at UN agencies'.
The UNA also transferred what it had left at the end to the One World Centre another charity which works to promote UN aspirations and values on the Island.
