Island to consider GCSE alternatives

The Island will consider its options, after a decision to extensively reform GCSE exams in England.

A major Manx public consultation exercise is being planned regarding changes in qualifications for 14-to-16-year-olds.

GCSEs, which were introduced in 1988 and administered by exam boards in England, will cease to be available over the next three years and the Island will have to decide whether to follow suit, or find another way forward.

Education Minister Tim Crookall.
