Island hit by 55mph gale force winds

Debris builds on rural roads

The Island is waking up to gale force winds this morning, responsible for cancelling the overnight sailings to and from Heysham.

Strong winds and gusts of up to 55mph are set to last for much of the morning, to clear by lunchtime.

Today's Ben-my-Chree journeys are therefore also subject to possible disruption.

A final decision is set to be made by 7am.
