Storm Callum hits Island

High winds lead to some delays - but no major problems so far

High winds have been causing some travel problems today - but not perhaps as bad as they could have been.

Storm Callum has brought winds of over 70 mph to some parts of Britain.

Gusts of over 50 mph around have been recorded in the Irish Sea earlier today, but the Ben my Chree left on time this morning at 8.45.

The return sailing is also on schedule at 2.15pm but the Manannan's 3pm sailing to Liverpool is now sailing an hour earlier at 2pm. Passengers are asked to check-in no later than 1.15pm.

At the airport this morning's flights to Manchester, Liverpool and Dublin were all cancelled but later flights are currently running to schedule.

There have been no major problems reported on the roads, although police have warned drivers to be aware of debris and leaves blocking drains - which could lead to localised flooding in heavy periods of rain later today and tomorrow.

The Northern Civic Amenity site is closed to the day, but is expecting to open again tomorrow (Sat) as usual.
