Insurers prepare for deluge of flood claims

It's too early to know the full cost of yesterday's storms and flooding.

The last big floods in the Island in 2002 cost an estimated £8 million in damage and disruption to property and business.

For those facing losses, after the clear-up, the task of making an insurance claims begins.

Island-based Tower Insurance will be open this morning (Sat 4 Jan) between 9am and midday to handle calls from local policy-holders. 

Underwriting manager Emmet McQuillan advises residents with claims to make contact with their insurer as soon as possible:
