Entrepreneur laid to rest in garden of Crogga Mill
Hundreds of people attended the funeral of Island entrepreneur and philanthropist Albert Gubay this lunchtime.
It took place at St Anthony's in Onchan, a church which Mr Gubay himself had built and paid for as a gift to the Island and in memory of his mother.
Mr Gubay, who amassed a fortune believed to be in excess of a billion pounds, passed away last week at the age of 87.
His fortune had been based on building-up Britain's first no-frills supermarket chain Kwik Save.
After the service, Mr Gubay was laid to rest in a Chantry which he had built in the grounds of his property, Crogga Mill in Santon
Bishop Tom Williams believes a charitable trust Mr Gubay left to benefit both the Roman Catholic Church and other good causes locally and globally . . will become his lasting legacy
