Hooper: 'Treasury raiding NI fund for no good reason'

Ramsey MHK one of eight to vote against this year's Budget

A Ramsey MHK has accused Treasury of ‘raiding’ the National Insurance fund for ‘no good reason’.

Lawrie Hooper says it's one of the reasons why he voted against this year’s Budget.

Minister Alex Allinson denied that his department was doing so during his summing-up speech. 

Mr Hooper was one of eight MHKs to vote against the document when it was presented to Tynwald on Tuesday (18 February).

He claimed the financial plan for the year ahead hits median earners the most and protects the wealthy:
