Holiday hunger pilot scheme feedback 'very positive'

Unlikely scheme will run during Christmas break

Feedback received by Government about a holiday hunger pilot scheme has been "very positive".

That's according to Cabinet Office Minister, who says that the Council of Ministers will review it and see how it can be incorporated for next summer.

The scheme aimed to provide eligible children with free food and activities over the summer holiday period.

Speaking in the House of Keys today, Kate Lord-Brennan revealed that in total 114 children were able to access 131 sessions ran by the private and third sectors.

In addition, youth services reach totalled 933 children for over 85 sessions around the Island:

 
 
The Minister added that despite this success, it is unlikely the scheme will run during Christmas holidays this year.
