Hit and run incident investigated

Van damaged in Castletown car park

The Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team is investigating a fail to stop collision that took place around 1.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 7th August 2018)

It happened in the car park at the junction of Farrants Way and Queens Street, Castletown when a blue Ford Transit Custom van sustained damage to its rear offside wheel arch and bumper, when another vehicle hit it.

Police say CCTV seems to show the damage was caused by the driver of a dark metallic grey Nissan Qashqai, who then moved his vehicle to another parking bay in front of the old Castletown Fire Station building.

He walked into Castletown Square past the Police Station then later returned to his vehicle and drove off.

It's thought the Qashqai will have sustained damage to it's front nearside bumper or wing. The male driver was wearing a pair of blue denim jeans, a light coloured shirt and a dark coloured blouson jacket.

Officers say they would like to speak to the man. He or anyone who may have information on the incident is asked to contact police headquarters on 631 212 or use Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
