Heroes On The Water to showcase new community hub

Offers rehabilitation to military and emergency service personnel

Military veterans and emergency services workers are being encouraged to find out more about physical and mental rehabilitation services.

Heroes On The Water Isle of Man is holding open days at its base in Port Soderick this weekend (7 + 8 August).

The charity, which started in America in 2007, organises activities – including kayaking and fishing – to help people relax and unwind.

Since 2018 volunteers have worked to transform a derelict arcade building into a community hub after it was offered the site in Port Soderick to store kayaks.

Tony Palmer is the chairman of the local branch and says: "Heroes On The Water Isle of Man understands the pressures of serving, and being on the frontline, and so can understand what our own emergency services personnel on the Island deal with on a daily basis.

"We are delighted to organise water based activity sessions which are designed to help people relax and unwind – a step away from clinical therapy and a focus on relaxation, escapism and having fun."

The open event will take place between 11am and 4pm each day.
