Heartbreaking tribute to William Dunlop

Partner Janine posts to his website

William Dunlop's partner has paid an emotional tribute to the late rider, a fortnight after he lost his life.

In a message posted to his website, Janine Brolly has thanked the public for their 'unfaltering support' since Dunlop was killed racing at the Skerries 100 in County Dublin.

William Dunlop leaves behind a two-year-old daughter, Ella, and Janine, who is pregnant with their second child together.

But in her first public statement since the tragedy, Ms Brolly accepts that road racing was 'woven deep within his DNA' and expresses hope that 'somewhere he is smiling to himself'.

She describes William's mother, grandmother and her own family as 'the strongest women you could ever hope to meet' - and says she intends 'do them proud'.

William was a 'tremendous sportsman', she concludes, 'but where he really shone brightest was a father'.
