Gov't donates £50,000 for crises

Yemen and East Africa receive £300,000 overall

Humanitarian efforts to support crises in Yemen and East Africa have received a further £50,000 from the Isle of Man Government.

It's reviewed, and boosted support for the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) - which delivers the aid.

The move brings the Island's total contribution to £300,000 to the countries.

Yemen has suffered large scale food and water shortages since the civil war began in 2015, and drought and conflict has left 16 million people starving in East Africa.

Chief Minister Howard Quayle has said it's to tackle rising severity of the crises.
