The Department of Infrastructure says "positive discussions" are ongoing, but the site's future remains unclear
The Department of Infrastructure says it is working to find a way forward for the Northern Civic Amenity Site ahead of its planned closure on 31 March.
Ramsey Town Commissioners confirmed earlier today that the facility would shut to the public due to funding issues after Bride Parish Commissioners withdrew its financial support.
Job losses are expected, and residents have been urged to plan ahead, with no alternative site currently available for larger waste disposal.
In a statement, the Department of Infrastructure said it is supporting the Northern Civic Amenity Site Committee and exploring options to keep the facility operating beyond March.
It continues to say, while it's unable confirm whether the site will remain open for the next financial year, it says "positive discussions" are ongoing.
