Future investment in police force is essential says former officer

A former long-serving police officer says government should be lobbied to reinvest in the Island’s police force.

Alan Jones, a former chairman of the Police Federation, is deeply concerned and angered by proposed cuts announced last month.

They include the closure of two Island police stations and an 11 per cent reduction in officers.

Mr Jones, who served for a quarter of a century in the Manx force, is calling for a full review of what’s required in the Isle of Man Constabulary and says future investment in the force is essential.
