Further work planned on Quarterbridge Road

Extended scheme to go into March with night closures

The one-way system on Quarterbridge Road is to be extended to the bottom of Bray Hill from the start of next month.

Only northbound traffic is permitted on the route with vehicles heading south being diverted along Tromode Road.

The footpath reconstruction scheme will also involve some road resurfacing work taking place at night time with a full closure.

The Infrastructure Department says the work will run from 1st March until no later than Wednesday 31st March.

The road surface needs to brought up to the levels of the new kerb stones.

The route is one of the busiest stretches of tarmac on the Island and is deteriorating so the decision has been taken to resurface now.

Night time closures will be from 6pm to 6am with a minimum of 3 days notice given to the public.

These will be dependent on the weather as asphalt can't be laid in sub zero temperatures or in heavy rain.
