Further remand for Liverpool man accused of manslaughter

53-year-old appears at Douglas Courthouse via video link

A Liverpool man who has been accused of manslaughter has been further remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.

John Meadows, of Verney Crescent, appeared for mention at Douglas Courthouse today (9 April) via live video link from the Jurby facility.

The 53-year-old has been accused of causing the death of his partner, 57-year-old Jillian Hughes, on 29 March.

She died following an alleged altercation outside the Best Western Palace Hotel and Casino on Central Promenade in Douglas.

Committal proceedings – where the case is elevated to the Court of General Gaol Delivery – will take place on 28 May.

There was no application for bail and Mr Meadows will next appear in court on 7 May.

 

UPDATE: At Douglas Courthouse on 28 May committal proceedings were delayed until 25 July. There was no application for bail and he was further remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.
