Further delay to major road scheme

Another postponement in north

Major roadworks planned for a route in the north of the Island have been put back again.

The scheme on Lezayre Road in Ramsey originally began in September last year, but was then stopped just four days after work commenced.

This time, it was due to start at the end of June, after the British Cycling National Road Championships.

But it's now been put off until June next year, subject to a review of the plans and further consultation.

The Department of Infrastructure says future phases of the scheme require the full closure of Lezayre Road for an extended period.

It says the 12 month postponement will be used to make the public more aware of the programming of the work, traffic management and access to properties.
