Former racing driver denies assault

34-year-old appears at Douglas Courthouse

A former racing driver from Leeds has been bailed as he faces charges over an alleged violent incident in Douglas.

Thirty-four-year-old James Jakes, of Hawksworth Lane in Guiseley, appeared at Douglas Courthouse.

He pleaded not guilty to assault, provoking behaviour and damaging a vehicle - at the junction of Strand Street and Howard Street - on 24 February.

Bail was granted and he'll next appear in court on 10 May.
