Fitting tribute to Summerland victims and survivors

A monument to remember those who died in the Summerland disaster will hopefully bring closure for families, friends and the Isle of Man.

 

That's the message from Mayor of Douglas Carol Malarkey who spoke following last night's ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of the 1973 fire.

 

Three stones with the names of each of those who perished in the tragedy was unveiled in Kaye Memorial Gardens on Douglas Promenade.

 

Mrs Malarkey explained why it has taken 40 years for a proper memorial to be built:
