17-year-old told to avoid 'this sort of carry on'
A teenager from Douglas has been fined £250 after being caught with drugs during TT week.
Kyle James Murphy, of Cushag Road, admitted possessing Ketamine and cannabis at the 1886 Big Stage on 2 June.
Police were called to the venue by security staff at 8pm after reports of men acting suspiciously in the toilets.
The 17-year-old was arrested and taken to Police Headquarters where he was ‘strip searched’.
A cigarette box containing £10 worth of cannabis and 1.6 grams of Ketamine was recovered.
It was said to have a street value of between £32 and £64.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse Murphy’s advocate said his client now had a choice to make about which direction his life took.
"There is a choice to be made by my client - positive avenues for the future rather than this sort of carry-on," he added.
Fining the teenager High Bailiff Jayne Hughes also ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £50 telling him: "Things will only get worse the more times you appear before this court."
