Findings of consultation into care due next month

DHSC received more than 1,200 responses on nursing, residential and home care proposals

The outcome of a public consultation into the future of nursing, residential and home care on the Island is due to be published next month.

The Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed more than 1,200 responses were received when views were sought from Manx residents.

Two options for the future of care were presented to Tynwald last year, ahead of the consultation opening in November.

The free care model would be similar to Scotland's system where care is provided for free, while a mixed model like Jersey's based on a threshold and cap scheme was also put forward.

In total, 1,227 responses were received, followed by a cost exercise and a review of the current Manx system compared to those elsewhere.

The DHSC says it intends to publish the findings from that consultation next month, and will work with Tynwald members before returning to the Island's parliament with further recommendations.
