Environmental concerns raised in Tynwald

Thirteen questions for oral answer

The Island's parliament will reconvene at the Legislative Buildings in Douglas this morning - for its first sitting of the financial year.

On the Tynwald question paper for this meeting, there are 13 submissions for oral answer and 15 seeking written response.

Many of those queries come from familiar voices.

Of the 13 which are subject to discussion in the court, Garff MHK Daphne Caine has tabled five.

The first of those is an environmental concern.

She'll ask the Treasury Minister whether he supports the purchase of electric buses by Bus Vannin.

Another question is also environmental in nature - she'll ask the Minister of Environment, Food and Agriculture about assessments for air tightness in newly-built domestic properties:

Mrs Caine will also re-ignite the Public Service Media debate, as she asks the Minister of Policy and Reform what discussions have taken place and are planned with the BBC regarding increasing its Isle of Man operation.

The other biggest contributor to the oral questioning is Jason Moorhouse MHK - he wants to know what classifies someone as high net worth?

Mr Moorhouse also wants to know how much direct financial assistance the Enterprise Minister has been giving to companies which moved to the Isle of Man Business Park:

You can see today's order paper in full on the Tynwald website and listen in to the sitting live from 10:30am, online at manxradio.com via the AM player, on the smartphone app, or on AM1368.
