English Domestic Abuse law is 'pitiful', says campaigner

Claims Manx reform just follows English equivalent

A charity campaigner who successfully lobbied government for reform of the Island's domestic abuse laws has branded English legislation 'pitiful'.

Tamasin Wedgwood of Safe Strong Secure has questioned the effectiveness of the UK's Serious Crime Act, which has seen eight convictions for domestic abuse since its introduction in 2015.

The proposed Diversion of Offenders and Domestic Abuse bill for the Isle of Man has gone to public consultation, until August 20.
