Ellan Vannin talks progressing, says department

The Department of Infrastructure says it’s not dragging its feet as it considers whether to let a new ferry company use the linkspan in Douglas Harbour.

 

The department’s been talking to Ellan Vannin Line, which is bidding to set up a rival operation to the Steam Packet Company, since October last year.

 

Yesterday, the company said it would miss its target date to begin passenger and freight services and wouldn’t be running vessels during this year’s TT.

 

Director of Ports Ann Reynolds says the negotiations can’t be completed quickly because the department needs a large amount of detail as it carefully considers the linkspan user agreement:
