Document will come back in November
After over five hours of intense debate spanning two days, the Eastern Area plan has been withdrawn from the October sitting of Tynwald.
Some expressed concern over population projections, the need for affordable housing and the uncertain future due to the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.
Government will bring the development plan back to Tynwald next month to give members more time to consider it.
Before the extension was agreed, Chief Minister Howard Quayle made it clear the plan can’t be changed:
Item 16 has been withdrawn and will be brought back in November. Item 17, Oil Pollution Act 1986, is under way.
