Drunk man swore at police near children's play area

Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Jack Snape fined

A Braddan man’s been fined after drunkenly swearing at police near a children’s play area.

Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Jack Snape of Tromode House appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.

He pleaded guilty to a single charge of being drunk and disorderly but prosecution advocate Roger Kane dropped a charge of assaulting a 16 year old girl after she withdrew her complaint.

The court heard police were on patrol on Loch Promenade in Douglas at around 8pm on on 14 August when they saw Snape crossing the road.

When officers slowed down to let him cross safely, Snape gestured at them and swore loudly.

The hearing was told the incident happened next to a children’s area on Douglas Promenade which was in use at the time.

Magistrates heard unemployed Snape still owed £248 in fines which was being paid off at the rate of £10 per week directly from his benefits.

They fined him a further £200 and ordered him to pay £50 towards prosecution costs when he clears his current fines.
